William Gray
William Gray (Service no 65988) was born in Keiraville, NSW.
At the time of enlistment in Wollongong, William was single, 19 years of age, employed as a compositer at the South Coast Times and had previously spent 4 years with the Cadets and 1 year with the Militia.
William embarked on HMAT A41 - Bakara with NSW Reinforcements on 4 September 1918. He arrived in England on 14 November 1918 and was posted to the 4th Battalion. He was sent to France on 30 January 1919.
William was granted leave in England to gain further experience as a compositor.
William returned to Australia in September 1919 and was discharged on 22 October 1919.
An obituary for Billl Gray indicated he left a widow and 6 children and that he had returned to work for the South Coast Times.
