Alexander Gray (Service No 2593), was born in Sydney, N.S.W.

At enlistment, he was single, 29 years old, worked as a locomotive driver, lived in Thirroul, N.S.W., and had served 6 years with the Militia.

Alexander embarked from Melbourne, on HMAT A71 Nestor, with the 1917 Reinforcement, on 28th February 1918. He arrived in England, on 20th April 1918, and was sent to France, where he joined the 2nd Light Railway Company on 30th May 1918. Alexander was admitted to hospital with influenza, on 27th January 1919, and invalided to Australia in April 1919. He was discharged medically unfit on 1st June 1919.
