Morgan Powell
Morgan Powell (Service No 59273), was born in Wales.
At enlistment, he was single, 32 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Helensburgh, N.S.W.
Morgan embarked on HMAT A30 Borda, with New South Wales Reinforcement 12, on 17th July 1918. He arrived in England on 27th September 1918, joining the 18th Battalion in France, on 28th January 1919.
Soon after arriving in England, Morgan met Dorothy Shortland, and they married on 22nd October 1919, in England. Dorothy returned to Australia with him in June 1920. On their arrival home, Morgan and Dorothy received a warm welcome from the citizens of Helensburgh, N.S.W. Morgan was discharged on 11th July 1920.
In 1929, Morgan had to pay a fine for letting his goats stray into public places.
The couple remained in Helensburgh, N.S.W.
Morgan died in Helensburgh, in 1944.
