John Parker (Service No 572), was born in Kiama, N.S.W.

At enlistment, he was single, 19 years old, worked as a clerk and had served 2 years with both the Senior Cadets and the Militia.

John embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana, as Company Sergeant Major, with 30th Battalion, C Company, on 9th November 1915. He arrived in Egypt on 11th December 1915, and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, on 12th March 1916. John then went to France, arriving there on 23rd June 1916. 

John was killed in action at Fromelles, France, on 20th July 1916. He was killed in the enemy front line, but his body was not recovered.

It was not until 2009, that John's body was found in the mass graves the Germans used at the end of the battle. John was identified and buried in Pheasant Wood Cemetery, Fromelles, France, Plot III, Row E, Grave 11.
