Robert Henry Rolph
Robert Henry Rolph (Service No 3067), was born in Shellharbour, N.S.W.
He had enlisted on 9th July 1915, but had been discharged on 8th January 1916.
At enlistment, he was 36 years old, worked as a winchman, lived in Newcastle, N.S.W., and had served 3 years with the Militia.
In 1905, Robert married Joan Banks, and the couple had 4 children.
Robert embarked on RMS Karmala, with 6th Light Horse Regiment, 23rd Reinforcement, on 3rd February 1917. He arrived in Egypt on 11th March 1917, and joined the 6th Light Horse Regiment. He saw service in Egypt and the Middle East, but was returned to Australia, in December 1917, and discharged medically unfit on 1st March 1918.
On 17th June 1919, Robert enlisted for a third time with the Special A I F, as Pte Rolph (Service No 86090). He embarked for England on 12th August 1919, arriving in London on 12th October 1919. Robert was returned to Australia in December 1919, being discharged once more, on 21st February 1920.
In 1936, he was working on the Woronora Dam, Sutherland, N.S.W.
Robert died in Sydney, N.S.W., in March 1945.
His funeral was held on 29th March 1945, but there was no mention of any family.
