Arthur Wolstenholme was born in Manchester, England.

At the time of enlistment, Arthur was single, 27 years of age, employed as a labourer and resided in Port Kembla, NSW.  He had listed his sister Evelyn in England as next of kin.

Arthur embarked on HMAT A71 - Nestor with the 18th Battalion, 11th Reinforcements on 9 April 1916.   He arrived in England where he joined the 18th Battalion in France on 23 September 1916.  Arthur saw service on the Western Front until 30 May 1918 when he was wounded in action and treated for gas poisoning.  Arthur was returned to duty on 15 August 1918.

Arthur was granted leave from 17 June 1919 until 16 September 1919 and returned to Australia in late September 1919.

Arthur was discharged on 5th January 1920.   After his discharge he returned to England where in December 1920 he married Rose Kelly.

Arthur died in England in September 1936.
