Arthur Forbar Harrison
Arthur Harrison (Service No 8149), was born in Sydney, N.S.W., as Arthur Forbar.
On 17th March 1897, he was admitted to the childrens institution, NSS Sobraon, a training ship for abandoned and delinquent boys, where he remained for some time.
In 1910, Arthur was in Helensburgh, N.S.W., where he married Harriett Russell. In 1911, he was arrested for assault, and that is when the details of his identity were revealed.
At enlistment, he stated he was married, 31 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Helensburgh, N.S.W. However, when he was arrested in 1911, he was described as being 36 years old.
On 26th November 1917, Arthur embarked on SS Indarra, from Melbourne, Vic., with the Tunnelling Company Reinforcements. He arrived in England on 2nd February 1918, and joined the 3rd Tunnelling Company, in France, on 26th May 1918. Arthur saw service on the Western Front, and returned to Australia, in August 1919. He was discharged on 22nd January 1920.
Arthur died in Rydalmere Hospital, Rydalmere, N.S.W., in 1963.
