Cecil Charles Knight
Cecil Charles Knight (Service No 2305), was born in Woonona, N.S.W.
At enlistment he was single, 21 years old, worked as a farmer and lived in Lismore, N.S.W.
Cecil embarked on HMAT A47 Mashobra, with the 5th Light Horse Regiment,16th Reinforcement, on 5th April 1916. He arrived in Egypt on 9th May 1916, and transferred to the Artillery Brigade, on 27th May 1916. Cecil saw service in Egypt and the Middle East, until 16th August 1917, when he arrived in France. He had been promoted to Corporal on 24th July 1917, and saw service on the Western Front with the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade. Cecil returned to Australia in May 1919, and was discharged on 26th August 1919.
In 1928, Cecil married Mary McKenzie.
On 8th August 1942, he enlisted for service in WW2 and served as Private Knight (Service No N441883), with the 1st Battalion Volunteer Corps, until 24th September 1945.
Cecil died in Lismore, N.S.W., in 1965.
