Arthur William Rowlands
Arthur Rowlands (Service No 1692) was born in Carder, Wales around 1892.
At enlistment Arthur was single, 24 years old, worked as a labourer, and lived at Thirroul, N.S.W. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A14 Euripides with 7th Light Horse Regiment, 11th Reinforcement on 2nd November 1915.
He arrived in Egypt on 28th December 1915, then was transferred to 40th Battery, Australian Field Artillary on 27th March 1916.
Arthur arrived in France on 13th June 1916 and was posted to 4th Medium Trench Mortar Battery on 28th June 1916. He saw service on the Western Front until he was wounded in action on 19th October 1917. Detail of the injury are not stated and Arthur returned to duty on 18th December 1917.
While on leave in England Arthur married Dora Ebdon in Wales on 26th June 1917.
Arhur was discharged from the AIF in London on 15th October 1919 and remained in England where he died in 1960.
