Kenneth Rixon was born in Murrurundi, NSW.

There are two sets of Kenneth's official papers (NAA) which each show his enlistment date as 21st October 1914, but one set state Kenneth's Service No to be 1177 while the other set show Service No 1189. 

At enlistment Kenneth was single, 30 years old, worked as a station hand and lived at Bulli, NSW.  He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A32 Themistocles with 1st Battalion, 1st Reinforcements on 22nd December 1914.  After arriving in Egypt he joined C Company, 1st Battalion at Gallipoli where he served until wounded in action on 5th June 11915.  Kenneth was evacuated to hospital for treatment of multiple gun shot wounds to his left forearm, chest and foot.

He finally returned to his unit in France on 5th September 1916.  On 24th November 1916 he was admitted to hospital in England sick and after recovering served in England with AIF Headquartersin London until the end of the war.

Kenneth was returned to Australia with the rank of Lance Sergeant on Special 1914 Leave in November 1918 and discharged from the AIF on 7th March 1919.
