Henry Harrison Sneyd
Henry Sneyd (Service No 3372) was born in the New England district of NSW.
At enlistment Henry was single, 21 years old, employed as a labourer and lived at Helensburgh, NSW; he had served in the citizens militia.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A16 Port Melbourne with 33rd Battalion, 8th Reinforcement on 16th July 1917 and arrived in England on 16th September 1917. Henry joined 33rd Battalion in France on 22nd January 1918 and saw service on the Western Front.
On 26th April 1918 he was wounded in action and treated for the effects of a gas attack and returned to duty on 19th June 1918.
Henry was returned to Australia in July 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 28th September 1919.
On 28th February 1920 Henry married Elvira Brown in Helensburgh.
Henry enlisted for service in World War II (Service No N104101) and served with the rank of Corporal with 11th Garrison Battalion from 21st February 1941 until 6th July 1944.
Henry died in 1968 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, NSW.
