John James Barlogio
John James Barlogio (Service No 3594), was born in Bulli, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he stated he was single, 18 years old and worked as a carter. In fact, he was just 16 years old.
John embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides, with 55th Battalion, 10th Reinforcement, on 31st October 1917. He arrived in England on 26th December 1917, and joined 55th Battalion, C Company, in France, on 25th May 1918. He was returned to Australia in September 1918, and discharged underage. A statutory declaration on file, stated he believed he had turned 17 years of age on 25th July 1917, but he was still underage.
In 1922, he married Doris Davies, in Sydney, N.S.W., and they had 3 children.
John died in Bulli, N.S.W., in 1967.
John is commemorated for his service on the Corrimal Public School Roll of Honour.
John's uncle, Joseph Barlogio (Service No 3461) and father, Frederick (Service No's 1830 & 3065), also served.
