William Patrick Holden (Service No 5785) was born in Gulgong, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was single, 37 years old, worked as a grocer and motor mechanic and lived in Thirroul, N.S.W. William had enlisted in March 1917, but was discharged medically unfit in May 1917.
He embarked on RMS Osterley, with the 1st Pioneers, 15th Reinforcement, on 8th May 1918. William arrived in England on 10th July 1918. On 23rd September, 1918, whilst training in England, he suffered a fractured ankle. William was returned to Australia in January 1919, and discharged medically unfit on 25th July 1919.
In 1923, he married Lillian Abbot.
William died in Mudgee, N.S.W., in 1950.
