Thomas William Dyer
Thomas William Dyer (Service No 4762), was born in Kiama, N.S.W.
In 1915, Thomas married Olive Power, in Kiama, N.S.W., and they had 3 children.
At enlistment, he was 26 years old, worked as a labourer and had served 2 years with the Militia.
Thomas embarked on HMAT A15, Star of England, with the 13th Battalion, 15th Reinforcement, on 8th March 1916. He arrived in Egypt on 11th April 1916, and was transferred to the 45th Battalion, on 19th April 1916.
Thomas then went to France, arriving on 1st June 1916. He saw service on the Western Front. Thomas' brother John Dyer, joined him in the 45th Battalion, on 20th October 1916.
On 25th July 1917, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and then promoted to Corporal, on 6th October 1918. Thomas has no wounding on file, but was admitted to hospital sick with influenza in early 1919. He was returned to Australia in March 1919, and discharged medically unfit on 9th June 1919.
Thomas died in Kogarah, N.S.W., in 1972.
