William Darcey Dunster
William Dunster (Service No 3116) was born in Shellharbour, N.S.W.
At enlistment William was single, 20 years old and worked a dairy farm. He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A42 Boorara with 6th Light Horse Regiment, 24th Reinforcement on 10th May 1917. He arrived in Egypt on 20th June 1917 and joined 6th Light Horse in the field on 4th August 1917.
William saw service in Egypt and the Middle East. He was admitted to hospital sick at the end of 1918 and returned to Australia in February 1919. He was discharged medically unfit due to cellulitis of the left knee on 17th April 1919.
On 3rd December 1921 William married Grace Sharpe in Gerringong, N.S.W. and they raised one child.
Williams' service is commemorated on the Shellharbour Rolls of Honour & Memorial.
William enlisted in Wollongong, N.S.W. for service in World War II (Service No N44940) and served part-time from 19th Jult 1942 until 30th September 1945 with 12th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps.
