Edison William Wilson
Edison Wilson (Service no 1498) was born in Lithgow, NSW.
At the time of enlistment, Edison was single, 22 years of age, employed as a fitter and turner and resided in Scarborough, NSW.
Edison embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A40 - Ceramic with the Australian Army Service Corps (AASC), 8th Company, 301st Mechanical Transport on 22 December 1914. He arrived in France from England on 15 July 1915 and served with the AASC on the Western Front.
Edison was promoted to Corporal on 16 August 1916 and then to Sergeant on 12 January 1917.
Edison returned to Australia in December 1918 and was discharged on 24 March 1919.
On 20th April 1919, he married Jane Marshall in Bulli and together they raised 2 children.
Edison enlisted for service in World War 2 on 8 November 1939 in Port Kembla, NSW (Service no N70596) and served with the 2nd Garrison Battalion until 14 March 1940.
Edison enlisted in Sydney on 15 March 1940 (Service no NX10103) and served as a Sergeant with the 2nd Tank Workshop Company until 22 January 1943.
Edison died in Sydney in 1973.
Edison's brother Briton Wilson also served in both Wars.
