Patrick Collins (Service no 2245) was born in Woonona, NSW in 1879.  At the time of enlistment, Patrick was single, 33 years of age, employed as a driver and resided in Woonona.  He had listed a Mrs Frew as next of kin.

Patrick embarked on HMAT A62 - wandilla with the 13th Battalion, 6th Reinforcements on 14 June 1915.  He arrived in Egypt and was sent to Gallipoli, Turkey o 2 August 1915.

Patrick was admitted to hospital on 16 August 1915 with typhoid fever but was returned to his unit in Gallipoli, Turkey on 13 November 1915.

On 9th December he was admitted to the field hospital at Gallipoli, Turkey.  After being discharged from hospital he was returned to Egypt and sent to Australia in January 1916 for a rest.

Patrick was returned to England on 1 October on HMAT A18 - Wiltshire with the 13th Battalion, 19th Reinforcements.  He was posted to the 13th Battalion who were on the ground in France on 21 July 1917.

Still suffering from ill health, Patrick was returned to Australia in January 1918 and medically discharged on 10 April 1918.
