Frederick Stephenson (Service No 3118) was born in Goulburn, N.S.W.

At enlistment he was 23 years old, single and worked as a driver. Frederick enlisted a few weeks before his brother, Roy.

The brothers embarked on HMAT A69 Warialda, with the 1st Battalion, 10th Reinforcement, on 8th October 1915. After disembarking in Egypt, Frederick was mustered as a driver and transferred to the 5th Division Artillery, on 16th March 1916.  On 25th June 1916, he went to France and on 9th July 1916, he was posted to 14th Field Artillery Brigade, with whom he saw service on the Western Front.

Most of 1917 was spent in and out of hospital due to sickness, but he returned to the front. Frederick was wounded in action on 20th September 1918, and admitted to hospital in England for treatment of a gun shot wound to his right arm. He was returned to Australiia in January 1919, and discharged medically unfit on 28th April 1919.

On 14th January 1920, he married Vera Robinson and the couple raised 3 children.

Frederick died in 1962.

Frederick's brothers Roy Stephenson (Service No 3119) and Edwin Stephenson (Service No 1392) also served.
