Robert Sutherland (Service No 54513) was born in Lithgow, NSW.

At enlistment Robert was single, 19 years old, was employed as a postman, and lived at Thirroul, NSW; he had served with 37th Infantry militia.

Robert embarked from Sydney on board SS Feldmarschall with New Sout Wales Reinforcement 7 on 19th June 1918.  He arrived in England on 26th August 1918 but by the time we was sent to join 34th Battalion in France, on 1st February 1919, the war had ended.

He was returned to Australia in July 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 11th September 1919.

After discharge, Robert worked with the NSW state railways.  On 20th March 1926 he married Alice Glass in Bulli, NSW.

He died in Sydney in 1969.
