William Hore (Serevice No 2572) was born in Dapto, N.S.W.

At enlistment William gave his age as18 year; he was in fact only 17;  William was single and worked as an electrical salesman.

John embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A73 Commonwealth with 12th Light Horse Regiment,  22nd Reinforcement on 2nd November 1917.  He arrived in Egypt on 10th December 1917 and joined the regiment on 3rd January 1918.

William saw service in Egypt and was transferred to 14th Australian General Hospital on 24th April 1919.  He returned to Australia in August 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 4th October 1919.

On 23rd November 1940 he married Lucy Honeybone after enlisting for service in World War II (Service No Q10640). He enlisted in Maryborough, Qld. on 29th June 1940. William served with 2/26th Battalion until he was discharged medically unfit on 16th January 1942.

William returned to Dapto to live, and died there in 1955; he is buried in Dapto Cemetery.
