Kenneth Whitfield (Service no 7572) was born in Shellharbour, NSW.

At the time of enlistment, Kenneth was single, 20 years of age and employed as a carpenter.

Kenneth embarked on the HMAT A14 - Euripides with the 3rd Battalion, 25th Reinforcements on 31 October 1917.  He arrived in England on 26 December 1917 and joined the 3rd Battalion in France on 25 April 1918. 

Kenneth saw service on the Western Front until admitted to hospital on 30 June 1918 and he remained in England until he was transferred to the Australian Army Medical Detail on 1 November 1918.

Kenneth was returned to Australia in June 1919 and medically discharged on 11 December 1919.

In 1920 Kenneth married Esma East in Kiama, NSW and together they raised 6 children.

Kenneth served on the Shellharbour Council for a number of years.

On 3rd May 1940 Kenneth enlisted for service in World War 2 where he served with the rank of Lance Corporal (Service no NX13894) wiith 3rd Railway Construction Company embarking for Egypt in June 1940.  He returned to Australia and was medically discharged on 12 April 1943.

Kenneth died in Kiama, NSW in 1967 and is remembered on the Shellharbour Roll of Honor.
