Ernest Williams (Service No 3760) was born in Mittagong, N.S.W.

At enlistment Ernest was single, 28 years old, worked as a postal assistant, and lived at Helensburgh, N.S.W.  He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A40 Ceramic with 7th Field Company Engineers, 1st Reinforcement on 30th November 1915.

Ernest arrived in France on 19th March 1916 and served on the Western Front.  He was wounded in action on 8th June 1916, but there are no specific details as to his wounds recorded on his papers.

He was granted leave for non military employment in England after the war, from 16th May 1919 until 16th August 1919.

Ernest returned to Australia in September 1919 and was discharged on 29th December 1919.

On 17th September 1921 he married Ena Southwell in Annandale, Sydney, and the couple had one child.

Ernest died in 1947 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery.
