Alexander Hunter
Alexander Hunter (Service No 6116) was born in Balgownie, N.S.W.
At enlistment he was 23 years old, single and worked as a miner.
Alexander embarked on HMAT A11 Ascanius with the 20th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement, on 25th October 1916. He disembarked in England on 28th December 1916 and served there until he joined the 20th Battalion in the field, on 1st August 1917. Alexander saw service on the Western Front and has no wounding on file. He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged in August 1919.
On 30th January 1926, Alexander married Adelaide Sheppard, in Wollongong, N.S.W.
Alexander died in 1963, and is commemorated for his service on the Balgownie Presbyterian Church Roll of Honor & Balgownie War Memorial 1914-1918.
Alexander's brother, Peter Hunter (Service No 6046), also served.
