Henry Thomas James Moore
Henry Thomas James Moore (Service No 3288) was born in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1880.
At enlistment he was 35 years old, married, worked as a fisherman and lived in Nowra, N.S.W.
Henry enlisted in Kiama, N.S.W., and embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana with the 45th Battalion, 8th Reinforcement, on 25th November 1916. He left his wife Margaret and 3 children in Nowra, N.S.W.
Henry arrived in England on 29th January 1917 and joined the 45th battalion in France on 7th May 1917. On 8th June 1917 he was wounded in action and treated for a gun shot wound to his finger, returning to duty on 21st June 1917. On 28th September 1917 Henry was wounded a second time and evacuated to the 3rd General Hospital for treatment of shrapnel wounds to his back and right arm.
Henry died from his wounds on 1st October 1917, and is buried in Mont Huon British Cemetery Plot III, Row N, Grave 10b.
