Stanley George William Miller
Stanley George William Miller (Service No 3127) was born in Gerringong, N.S.W.
On 1st January 1913, Stanley married Agnes Sharpe in Gerringong, N.S.W. and they had 4 children.
At enlistment he was 28 years old, worked as a farmer and had served 2 years with the Senior Cadets and 4 years with the Militia. Stanley embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A42 Boorara with the 6th Light Horse Regiment, 24th Reinforcement on 10th May 1917. He disembarked in Egypt on 20th June 1917 and was posted to the Divisional Train on 28th July 1917. Stanley saw service in Egypt and the Middle East and has no wouunding on file. On 22nd September 1918, he was admitted to hospital with an injured left knee after being kicked by a mule. Stanley was returned to Australia in March 1919 and discharged on 26th May 1919.
He enlisted for service in WW2 and served as Private Miller (Service No N267022) from 5th May 1942 until 2nd July 1944 with the Volunteer Defence Corps in Kiama, N.S.W.
Stanley died in Gerringong, N.S.W., and is buried in Unanderra Cemetery.
Stanley is commemorated for his service on the war memorial at Gerringong Soldiers Memorial Hall.
