Arthur Barry Couch
Arthur Barry Couch (Service No 37856) was born in Shellharbour, N.S.W.
At enlistment in Kiama, N.S.W., he was 28 years old, single, worked as a farmer and lived in Dunmore, N.S.W.
Arthur embarked on HMAT A15 Port Sydney with the Field Artillery Brigade, Reinforcement 31, on 5th November 1917. After a stop in Egypt he arrived in England on 4th January 1918 and joined the 10th Field Artillery Brigade in France, on 19th March 1918.
Arthur saw service on the Western Front until 29th October 1918 when he was admitted to hospital with severe influenza. He was returned to Australia in January 1919 and discharged on 16th April 1919.
In 1919, Arthur married Gladys Somerville.
Arthur died in 1967.
He is commemorated for his service on the Albion Park Roll of Honor and the Shellharbour Roll of Honour.
