Thomas Padgett was born in Mount Kembla on 19 November, 1893, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Padgett. He worked as a miner prior to enlisting in the AIF. He enlisted on 19 January, 1916 and embarked on the HMAT A24 Benalla on 1 May, 1916, with the 35th Battalion, B Company. He served on the Western front and on 17 August, 1918 was transferred to the 56th Battalion, where he was promoted to Sergeant on 15 November, 1918. #533 Sergeant Padgett married Edith Blore on 8 January, 1919, in Broughton, Lancashire. They returned to Australia in August 1919 and raised their family. Thomas died in 1976.
