James Rowan (Service No 9891) was born in Glasgow, Scotland, around 1884.
At enlistment he was 32 years old, single, worked as a baker and lived in Woonona, N.S.W.
James embarked on HMAT A71 Nestor with the Field Butchery and Bakery Unit, 16th Reinforcement, on 9th April 1916. He disembarked in England and was sent to France where he served with the 5th Field Bakery until the end of the war. James returned to Australia in March 1919 and was discharged.
