Trooper (or Private) Albert Ernest Chinnock - service #2018 - was born in Figtree and was a miner before he enlisted in the AIF. He embarked on the HMAT A62 Wandilla on 3rd February, 1916, with the 6th Light Horse - 14th reinforcements . He served in both Egypt and Palestine, and attended machine gun school.  He received a gun shot wound to his right thigh while fighting at Jerico on 11th May, 1918, & was admitted to #14 Australian General Hospital. A few months later, in September, he contracted malaria. He returned to Australia in 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 26th September, 1919. In 1929 he married Valda Irvine.  He died in Wollongong on 20th September, 1952.
