Private William Chinnock (Service no. 2535) embarked with 5th Reinforcements 37th Battalion on HMAT A24 Benalla on 9th November, 1916. He saw service on the Western Front. While in action he received a bullet wound to his ear.
He returned to Australia in July 1919.
On the 22nd September, 1934 he married Sarah Hennessy and they lived in the Illawarra until his death on 24th August, 1982, aged 87.
