Thomas Arthur Clegg
Thomas Clegg (Service No 1931) was a single 21 year old carpenter from Bellambi, NSW when he enlisted.
He embarked on HMAT A 55 Kyarra, with his brother Herbert John Clegg (Service No 1930) on 13th April 1915 with 5th Reinforcements 3rd Battalion.
Thomas arrived on Gallipoli on 14th June 1915 and saw service with D Company. On 7th August 1915 he took part in the battle for Lone Pine and was listed as missing. At the court of enquiry he was declared killed between 7th and 12th August 1915. Thomas was buried in Browns Dip Cemetery but was moved to Lone Pine Cemetery Plot III, Row B, Grave 29. His brother survived the war and returned to Australia.in May 1916.
