Thomas Bartlett (Service No 1245) was born in Nowra, NSW.  In 1903 he married Beatrice Clark.  Thomas served in the Boer War from 1899 to 1902 (Service No 1378) as a Trooper with the New South Wales Imperial Bushman, E Company.

At enlistment Thomas was 40 years old, employed as a labourer and was living in Wollongong, NSW with his family.  He embarked on HMAT A67 Orsova on 10th November 1915 with Australian Remount Unit 2, 5th Squadron.

Thomas saw service in Egypt where he had a number of hospital admissions due to illness.

He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 20th September 1919.

Thomas died in Wollongong in 1943 and is commemorated on the Wollongong Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.

Thomas' brother, Richard Henry Bartlett (Service No 677), also served.
