Henry (Harry) Brown
Henry Brown (Service No 2884) was born in Bollington, Cheshire, England. Henry's family came to Australia in 1912 and settled in Helensburgh, N.S.W.
When Henry enlisted he was 20 years old, single, and employed as a miner. Soon after enlistment, Henry married Annie Frankham in Cessnock, N.S.W.
Henry embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A14 Euripides with 6th Reinforcements on 2nd November 1915. After arriving in Egypt Henry joined the 18th battalion on 5th February 1916 at Kembla Hill. Soon after, on 9th March 1916, he was transferred to 2nd Australian Pioneers.
Henry sailed with A Company, 2nd Pioneers to France, arriving on 26th March 1916 and served on the Western Front until 14th November 1916, when he was hit by machine gun fire and killed.
Henry is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France; Plot VI, Row E, Grave 39.
