Charles Easterbrook (Service No 13771) was born in Plymouth, England around 1883. In 1908 he married Agnes Cooper and the couple came to Australia in 1914.

At enlistment Charles was 32 years old, worked as a miner, lived at Balgownie, N.S.W. and he and Agnes had 4 children.

Charles embarked from Sydney on HMAT A61 Kanowna with the Army Medical Corps Special Reinforcements on 29th March 1916.  Upon arriving in Egypt Charles was posted to 2nd Stationary Hospital on 23rd May 1916.  He saw service in Egypt with the Medical Corps.

While there is no entry of wounding on Charles' file, a notice in a newspaper after his death indicates he suffered ill health due to having been gassed.

He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 20th September 1919.

Charles died on 27th August 1933.

His service is commemorated on the Balgownie War Memorial 1914-1918.
