Robert John Dennis (service No 9541) was born in Moss Vale, N.S.W.

At enlistment in Bulli, N.S.W., he was single, 22 years old, worked as a labourer and lived in Bulli, N.S.W.

Robert embarked on HMAT A71 Nestor, with Tunnel Company 1918 Reinforcement, on 28th February 1918.

He arrived in England on 20th April 1918 and joined 2nd Tunnel Company in France, on 20th May 1918. Robert saw service on the Western Front but had a number of hospital admissions due to sickness.

Robert returned to Australia in January 1919, and was discharged in Melbourne, on 14th March 1919 medically unfit.

A letter on file from his mother, indicates she was at the dock in Sydney, N.S.W. to meet his ship, but for some reason he chose to leave the ship in Melbourne.

There is no record of Robert marrying.

Robert died in Sydney, N.S.W. in 1962.
