William Arthur Miller Ashworth
William Arthur Miller Ashworth (Service No 3231), was born in Yuleba, QLD.
At enlistment he was single, 23 years old, worked as a labourer and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W. William embarked from Brisbane, on HMAT A48 Seang Bee, with 15th Battalion, 11th Reinforcement, on 2nd October 1915.
Arriving in Egypt he joined 15th Battalion, they then left for France, arriving on 8th June 1916. William saw service on the Western Front until 9th August 1916, when he was severely wounded. He was evacuated to hospital in England, for treatment of shrapnel wounds to his right leg. William was repatriated to Australia, in February 1917, and discharged medically unfit, on 18th May 1917.
On 26th November 1921, he married Helen Morgan, in Sydney, N.S.W., where he worked as a real estate agent.
William remarried, and raised a family in Brisbane, QLD, where he worked as a builder.
William is buried in Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery, QLD.
