George Collins (Service no 2124) was born in Creswick, Victoria.

At the time of enlistment he was single, 33 years of age, employed as a miner and resided in Clifton, NSW. 

George embarked on the HMAT A8 - Argyllshire with the 17th Battalion, 4th Reinforcements on 30 September 1915.   He arrived in Egypt and was sent to France on 27 March 1916 but was admitted to hospital sick on 25 April 1916.   

George was deemed unfit for further active service and repatriated to Australia in July 1916.  He was medically discharged with a pension on 21 November 1916 due to his Asthma.

In 1952 he sent a letter requesting replacement discharge papers from Heidleberg Hospital.  He died there soon after and is buried in Faukner Cemetery, Victoria.
