Oswald Stafford Brown (Service No 1208) was born in Coolamon, N.S.W. in 1888, the son of Isaac and Matilda Brown of Cordeaux River.

He was a school teacher and enlisted at age 27 in July 1915.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT Beltana A72 with the 30th Battalion on 9th November, 1915.  Oswald saw service on the Western Front and was promoted to Corporal on 1st July, 1918. A short time later he was killed in action.

Oswald is buried in Heath Cemetery at Picardie, France; Plot v, Row G, Grave 20.
